Filmmaker Karan Johar's latest release 'Student Of The Year' strikes gold at the box-office. Made with all three newcomers, the script as well as the new comers has been successful in entertaining the audience. The film has earned Rs 28.43 crore (Rs 8.98cr on Friday, Rs 9.36 cr on Saturday and Rs 10.09 cr on Sunday) in the first weekend at the box-office.
Trade analyst, Atul Mohan says, "I think the only reason for SOTY to work is one man Karan Johar. Not only has he made a commercial film but has left no stone unturned in terms of production value and promotions for the film. It's only plus for him from now as there are two holidays coming up this week." Trade guru Amod Mehra points out, "When a director like Karan makes a successful film with newcomers, it is an encouraging sign for others to bring new talent to the industry. The film's a definite hit."
Set in a college campus, the film stars three debutantes, Siddharth Malhotra, Alia Bhatt and Varun Dhawan in the pivotal role.
Bollywood trade analysts speak about the opening day response of the movie. On his Twitter page, well-known Bollywood trade analyst Taran Adarsh writes, "#SOTY morning shows are terrific... Great start." He adds, "SOTY embarks on a terrific start in Overseas too. Purely on the strength of KJo and Dharma, collects AED 350,000 in UAE on Thu. Super!"
