Popular Carnatic Singer Nithyashree Mahadevan's husband Mahadevan committed suicide jumping into the Adyar River,
The Incident happend around 12.45 PM, when Mahadevan drove his Honda City along with his driver , and parked the car on the Adyar Bridge near Kottupuram and jumped into the river. The driver alerted the family members, while the people who witnessed the event informed the Police deparment, following which the fire deparment after a hour long search retrieved the body and sent it to the Royapettah Government Hospital for autopsy.
It is being told on hearing the news Nithyashree, attempted suicide comsuning sleeping pills and had been admitted to the private hospital in Chennai.
Police have registered a case and further investigations are underway, it is being told small misunderstanding between the couple lead to the suicide
Mahadevan is survived by his wife Nithyashree, and two daughters. Nithyashree is the granddaughter of late D K Pattammal.
